Application of SmartPump Technology to Automotive and Chemical Industries

SmartPump operating principle is unique. SmartPump Chamber Pumps consist of a tube like membrane which when compressed, pushes down on the liquid creating the pumping motion. Since there is no rotating or sliding components such as gears, pistons, lobes, rotors, screws, etc. in contact with product being dispensed to wear out. high accuracy is maintained at all times.

Key Features

Having high flow accuracy not changing over time, eliminates the need of having flow sensors in product line and flow accuracy checks and re-calibration thus improving productivity. High flow accuracy improves final product quality and yield while reducing waste. This is critical specifically in 2 k applications 


Turn down ratio is 100 to 1 and flow rate change is instant making Smart Pump preferred solution for robotic application of paints, sealants, coatings and adhesives. Calibration is not required when changing products or if temperatures or viscosity is changing.

When pumping is stopped, Smart Pumps maintains line pressure. Pumping action can be started slowly to prevent pressure peaks eliminating the need for dampeners. Pump is self-priming and can be run dry. 


SmartPump is ideal for difficult demanding products, such as corrosive, abrasive liquids, slurries, gasses with and without solids at high temperature range. 

Smart Pump options includes heating/ cooling and ATEX. In addition to, inlet and outlet lines can be heated and cooled and connected to PLC controlled heated/cooled pressurized product tanks with dual mixers.


With total automation and PLC control, with data logging of all process information such as flow rate, pressure on inlet and outlet, product temperatures, volumes run since re-sets and optionally added information of tank levels, mixing motor status, rpm, Smart Pump is optimal for total process control and digital manufacturing.


For robotic application, the controlling of all functions can be done by robot controller lowering the costs and increasing the simplicity.


Multiple Smart Pumps can be monitored and controlled from single local touch screen, from remote location. Operator can receive on their cell phones soft alarms of selected process parameters, tank, batch status etc.

Process differences and benefits with SmartPump Technology

  1. All pump chambers are connected to and driven from central pump cabinet 
  2. All functions and datalogging for each pump can be accessed from central control cabinet or remotely from command center and via cell phones/tablets 
  3. Additional i/o are provided to connect tank level sensors, motors or other instruments for digital manufacturing   
  4. Product line flow meters, control valves, shutoff valves, and dampeners are eliminated providing cost savings and reduction in maintenance down time.
  5. SmartPumps hold pressure, can be started slowly to prevent pressure peaks, run empty and are self priming
